The Outdoor Education Program aims to develop the students’ understanding of their relationships with the environment, others and themselves by providing positive interactions and experiences within the natural world. Through a variety of mental and physical challenges and team building activities the children will develop skills related to life long learning such as critical thinking, conflict resolution, problem solving and communication. The Outdoor Education Program aims to foster the development of emotional resilience, cooperative skills, leadership, and basic skills required in the outdoors. Children will learn how to take care of their natural environment and contribute to a sustainable community.
This program involves all students at The Lakes College with overnight camps from Year 3 and an elective at Year 10 in 2011.
