While many were enjoying a break, our dedicated cast and crew were hard at work bringing our Primary School Musical to life! Over three full days, 40 enthusiastic Primary students, supported by 8 Secondary students and our amazing staff team – Lee, Tessa and Clara, worked alongside Director Katrina Wellins to transform scenes into a fully connected, vibrant show.
Katrina shared, "It’s been a fantastic intensive rehearsal period, really pulling the show together. Costumes are coming out, props are being used, sets are appearing and the kids are so excited!"
A big thank you to Matt Fisher from Matt Fisher Media for capturing the energy and excitement of rehearsals in our behind-the-scenes video!
Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. Makes a Splash
The 2025 Primary School Musical production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. was a spectacular celebration of student talent, creativity and collaboration. Performed in the College Hall that was transformed into an undersea wonderland —the show transported audiences beneath the waves into a world of music, magic, and meaningful storytelling.
Based on the beloved Disney animated film, The Little Mermaid Jr. follows the journey of Ariel, a curious young mermaid who dreams of life beyond the sea. With memorable songs like “Part of Your World,” “Under the Sea,” and “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” the production delighted audiences of all ages.
The cast brought the underwater kingdom to life with vibrant performances, expressive storytelling, and impressive vocal work. From the graceful mersisters to the comedic seagulls and the villainous flair of Ursula, every role was performed with enthusiasm and heart.
With help from Mrs Wellins, Ms Aleckson and the Strike Theatre students the young performers developed their characters with confidence and flair, while Mrs Trudgen and the Year 10 Dance choreography team added dynamic movement that captured the rhythm of the ocean. Miss Lee’s costume design was a visual triumph, with imaginative and detailed outfits that brought each character to life.
A heartfelt thank you to the Primary Arts students, Mrs Ayache and Miss Brown for their stunning sea creature artwork, which transformed the school hall into an immersive underwater theatre. Their creativity added depth and wonder to the set, enhancing the storytelling and visual impact.
