Primary Classroom Teacher (Upper Primary)

  • This will be a full-time fixed term contract to cover a Long Service leave of absence in Semester 2 of 2022
  • The successful candidate will be required to teach Year 6
  • Candidates with a demonstrated ability to teach HASS and Science will be considered favourably

You will be responsible for:

  • Creating and maintaining safe, vibrant and engaging learning environments through positive classroom practice
  • Teaching to support student progress through differentiation and age-appropriate pedagogy
  • Supporting staff and student wellbeing and the faith-based values of the College as a Ministry of the Uniting Church
  • Setting and maintaining clear expectations for learning and behaviour in line with College policies and procedures

BUSINESS TEACHER (SECONDARY)

This will be a full-time fixed term appointment for 12-months commencing Semester 2 of 2022 as a maternity leave cover contract.

It is desirable that the successful candidate hold a current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment enabling them to teach a Certificate III in Business Course.

The Lakes College is a Ministry of the Uniting Church, independent school. As a Secondary Subject Teacher, you will contribute to The Lakes College ‘Strategic Horizon’ through our calling – Learning, Mission and Service, Wellbeing, Pathways and Growth.

As a Business Teacher, you will facilitate opportunities for students to develop business knowledge and skills to contribute meaningfully to society, the workforce and the marketplace and prepare them as potential employees, employers, leaders, managers and entrepreneurs. In your role, you will be expected to develop and use assessment tasks and techniques that align with QCAA expectations.

Your delivery of the Certificate III in Business will enable students develop a broad range of administrative competencies to be applied in varied work contexts. The skills and competencies gained allow students to be job-ready and able to work autonomously, under instruction or as a support to a team.

Vocational Teacher Aide Placements

The Lakes College will not be taking on any vocational placements until Semester 2 of 2022.

Candidates enrolled to study a Certificate III in Educational Support can apply for a Vocational Teacher Aide placement at any time during the year, however applications are pooled for consideration as part of two block placements per year.

Block placement one covers Term 1 & 2 and Block placement 2 covers Term 3 & 4.

Places are limited, and successful candidates must be prepared to work across both the Primary and Secondary schools. A vocational placement with the College does not guarantee employment with the College on completion of your course.
