Relief Teacher and/or Relief Learning Assistant

The Lakes College welcomes expressions of interest for relief teaching and teacher aide work across our Primary and Secondary schools at any time during the year.

  • Current resume detailing your work experience as specific to the role
  • Contact details for three (3) referees (preferably former direct supervisors)
  • Proof of Queensland Teacher Registration (Teacher candidates only)
  • Paid Working with Children Check Blue Card (Learning Assistant Candidates only)
  • Proof of current vaccination status (the College is considered as a high-risk setting)
  • Copies of your formal qualifications as specific to the role you have applied for

Vocational Teacher Aide Placements

The Lakes College will not be taking on any vocational placements until Semester 2 of 2022.

Candidates enrolled to study a Certificate III in Educational Support can apply for a Vocational Teacher Aide placement at any time during the year, however applications are pooled for consideration as part of two block placements per year.

Block placement one covers Term 1 & 2 and Block placement 2 covers Term 3 & 4.

Places are limited, and successful candidates must be prepared to work across both the Primary and Secondary schools. A vocational placement with the College does not guarantee employment with the College on completion of your course.

The Lakes College is seeking to appoint a Head of Primary from Term 2 of 2024 or earlier if available. ABOUT THE ROLE

The Head of Primary is the key leader for Learning and Wellbeing across the Primary (Prep to Year 6) environment. As a faith-based leader, they are responsible for the development of the whole child, growing and maintaining a culture of excellence in teaching and learning, while fostering a restorative approach to relationship management that seeks to prepare our Lakes Learners to enter the world prepared for the many possible futures that may exist.

Key responsibilities:

  • Foster and maintain our College culture ensuring our College character and brand are sustained and celebrated, as we strive to be a light in the heart of North Lakes.
  • Foster and sustain relationships in partnership with the wider College Community as we journey with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Lead the Primary School in maintaining an environment that is a safe place for young people to achieve learner success.
  • Ensure that staff, student and community voice has a place in decision making through intentional engagement with students, parents, and carers.
  • Influence and grow a high-performance Primary Leadership Team that connects and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, exploring partnerships that are intentional, meaningful, and under-pinned by our faith-based values.
  • Support the College Vision to be leaders in inspirational and innovative learning, through the development of a College Community where students and staff members can flourish, ensuring our stewardship of College resources is sustainable, risk adverse and future proof.
  • Encourage the development of and investment in the ‘Lakes Learner’ attributes of Faith, Knowledge, Curiosity, Character, and Connection across all dimensions of the College.
  • Lead with inclusivity, fostering a respectful understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other cultures within our community, strengthening relationships, and celebrating our diversity.

As a member of the Senior Executive of The Lakes College, your leadership will be relational, influential, and impactful. To be successful in this role we expect that you can demonstrate:

  • You are an experienced, relational Primary School Leader able to build and sustain a culture of learner excellence in an inclusive and diverse educational setting.
  • An ability to support and sustain transformational change, while embracing opportunities for innovation and best practice, within a community that celebrates diverse thinking.
  • Create a culture of connection and collaboration through strong interpersonal skills used to engage, persuade, inspire, and lead others to reach desired outcomes.
  • The capacity to promote and sustain high expectations of within the Primary school community.
  • An extensive understanding of the needs of Primary Learners, able to foster an environment where each young person is able to realise their potential in educational, spiritual, sporting, cultural, service, sustainability and personal pursuits.
  • A commitment to the Uniting Church Christian ethos within the College, through mission and service leadership.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Well-organised, with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Academic qualifications and eligibility for registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.
