Restorative Practice | 3 Day Facilitator Training

A restorative approach to behaviour management views misconduct as damage to people and relationships, rather than the traditional thinking of punishment in response to rule breaking. Restorative problem solving has a focus on repair. Wrongdoers are made accountable directly to those they have wronged, entering into dialogue which explores the context of the wrongdoing, what harm has been done, and therefore what needs to be done to make amends and make things right.

This highly practical, interactive 3 day workshop will allow participants to review current practices, explore notions of compliance, justice and fairness and to participate in practice conferences. They will then be in a position to facilitate the conference process for serious incidents in their schools and to apply a less formal approach for less serious incidents in classrooms, corridors and playgrounds. Class conferencing will also briefly be covered as an elective response to dysfunctional classrooms.
